Peggy J. Miller, 80, passed away March 21, 2021, at Hutchinson Regional Medical Center. She was born March 26, 1940, in Hutchinson, to Ivan Emery and Evelyn Grace (Ely) Brunk.
Peggy was a 1958 graduate of Inman High School. She served as a board member for Hospice of Reno County and a former cancer organization. Peggy was a longtime member of Journey Mennonite Church, South Hutchinson. She served in various positions of responsibility at the church, such as the coordinator of the nursery program and an Elder.
Peggy was a person who enjoyed her friends. She loved to entertain guests in her home and to have her home decorated in whatever holiday season was on the calendar. Peggy loved to travel, especially when her family was able to travel with her and her husband, Orvin. Her flower garden, known as 'Kelly's garden', held a special place in her heart. Peggy was involved in many activities, but her greatest joy was her family and friends. She had many titles, but the most important ones were wife, mother, 'Grandma Peggy', and friend.
On June 5, 1958, she married her high school sweetheart, Orvin L. Miller, at the West Liberty Mennonite Church near McPherson. They shared over 62 years of marriage.
Peggy is survived by: husband, Orvin L. Miller of Hutchinson; children, Kim (Rick) Pitzer of Hutchinson, Scott (Susan) Miller of Ames, IA, and Todd (Cindy) Miller of Hutchinson; grandchildren, Melissa (Kristopher) Strait of Centerton, AR, Jason (Brooksie) Pitzer of Hutchinson, Zachary, Zane and Kenzie Miller of Ames, IA, Jarrod (Dominique) Miller of Kansas City, KS, and Candace (Chad) Pauly of Overland Park; great-grandchildren, Blake and Jackson Strait, and Samantha Pitzer; mom, Mary Jane Brunk of South Hutchinson; brothers, Larry (Dorothy) Brunk and Dennis Smith, both of Inman; sister-in-law, Nancy Brunk of Inman; brother-in-law, Don (Chris) Miller of Hutchinson; and sister-in-law, Phyllis (Bob) Weaver of Hesston.
She was preceded in death by: her parents; daughter, Kelly Denise Miller; brother, Robert Brunk; and sister-in-law, Joyce Smith.
Memorial service was Friday, March 26, 2021, at Journey Mennonite Church, 808 S. Poplar, South Hutchinson, with Pastors Howard Wagler and Eric Miller officiating. Private family burial service was in the West Liberty Cemetery near Windom.
