Peggy Ann (Martin) Lucas, 83, of Monrovia, passed from this life in the comfort of her home, while surrounded by her loving family at 7:15 p.m., on January 24, 2021. She was born at home in Monrovia on February 2, 1937, to the late Theodore "Ted" and Dorothy "Alberta" (Lee) Martin. Raised in the quiet, rural simplicity of Morgan County, Peggy and her four siblings attended Monrovia High School. While attending church, she met her future husband, and father of her children, "Sonny". She took one look at the handsome, young man and knew he was the one she wanted to spend her life with. The love struck pair had a whirlwind courtship and were happily united in marriage on January 30, 1954. The struggles of being young and in love forced the pair into moving around a bit; before they built their forever home on Baltimore Road, moving in on December 17, 1965. Dedicated to God and strong in her faith, Peggy was a member of the Poplar Grove United Methodist Church. While she was a loving and devoted homemaker, she managed to find ways to release her inner creativity as her children grew and needed her less. She was known to hang wallpaper with her best friend, along with designing and fabricating handmade decorative wooden objects, alongside her husband. A talented seamstress, Peggy could masterfully turn fabric into almost anything you needed; from clothes to curtains, to seat covers. A true lover of flowers, lavender in particular, she and Sonny spent many a spring and summer tilling and planting flower beds. A truly beautiful, kind and warm hearted woman, Peggy was a gentle yet a strong soul. She raised her children with a firm, but gentle hand; giving her family all the love from within her heart. Forever known as Sonny's Princess, she will be deeply and profoundly missed. Along with her parents, Peggy was preceded in death by her daughter, Mary Lucas; siblings, Dink Martin, Carol Lou Griffith, and Linda Kline; and her grandchild, Quinn Franklin Lucas. Peggy leaves behind her loving and devoted husband of 67 years, Phillip "Sonny" L. Lucas; children, Sheila Feeback (husband, Rick) of Monrovia, Phillip "Spike" Lucas (wife, Jurell) of Anderson, and Jeff Lucas of Monrovia; brother, Tommy Martin of ?Monrovia; grandchildren, Ryan Feeback and Clint Feeback, both of Centerton, and Stephanie Franklin of Georgia; great grandchildren, Rylie, Kyden, Camden, Lucas, Hunter, Colten, and Caylee ; along with her beloved fur baby, Teddy. A Gathering of Friends & Family will be held on Friday, January 29, 2021 from 3:00p.m. until 7:00p.m. at light Memorial & Funeral Chapel, with A Celebration of Life Service beginning promptly at 7:00p.m. Pastor Mark Boardman will officiate, and services will be livestreamed on Light Memorial's Facebook page.
