NILES, MI - Peggy Joyce Nelson Frech James, age 81, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, February 1st, 2022, at Brentwood of Niles Senior Living, in Niles, MI.
She was born November 8, 1940, in Port Arthur, TX, to Viley Rhea Barker and Oscar David Nelson. Peggy graduated from Port Arthur High School in 1958, where she was a member of the Red Hussar's Drum and Bugle Corp and editor of the school newspaper. She then went on to Lamar University where she earned a BA in History in 1962 and was treasurer of her senior class.
With four children from her first marriage (Todd, Ann, Dave, and Drew) Peggy married Kenneth James in 1981 who also had two children from a previous marriage: Scott and David.
Throughout her life she held various roles from mother, homemaker, schoolteacher, executive recruiter, and business owner. To her children, she was always one to set high expectations but never one to push too much. She gave them the freedom and encouragement to always strive to be their best.
