Peggy Ann Ekdahl, 85, of Stamford, Texas, was reunited with her loved ones in heaven on Sunday, April 25, 2021. A graveside service will be held on Wednesday, April 28, 2021, at 10:00 a.m. at Bethel Lutheran Church Yard Cemetery at Ericksdahl. A memorial service will follow at 11:00 a.m. at Orient St. Church of Christ with Wes Horn officiating. A visitation is planned for Thursday, April 27 from 6:00 p.m. - 7:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Services are under the direction of Kinney-Underwood Funeral Home in Stamford.
Peggy Ann Mahone is the daughter of George and Lottie Lafay Williams Mahone. She was born in Lubbock, TX on March 18, 1936. She married Edward Mitchell Ekdahl on April 12, 1963 in Lubbock, TX. They shared a wonderful life together until his passing on June 26, 2012.
Peggy was an active member of the Orient Street Church of Christ, and loved her church family dearly. She had a servant's heart; serving God and her community in various ways. She also adored her grandchildren and treasured attending their actives. She took the time to enjoy the little things in life; like working in her garden and hoeing weeds. She moved to Jones County in 1971 and has been a devoted member of the Stamford community ever since. She was active in the Emmaus community, served as a 4-H Sponsor, past member of the Pierian Club, a member of the Stamford Pink Ladies. She was awarded Stamford's Citizen of the Year in 2003.
She is preceded in death by her parents; husband; sisters, Wanda Givens, Ava Edwards; and a daughter, Vicki Wilson.
Left to cherish her memories are her son, John Ekdahl and wife Jill of Stamford, TX; 3 daughters, Kim Greenfield and husband Lonny of San Angelo, TX; Teri Heinemann of Lubbock, TX; Carla Smith and husband Don of Austin, TX; grandchildren, Nathan Meredith of Murfreesboro, TN; Truett Ekdahl of Stamford, TX; Everett Ekdahl of Stamford, TX; Carly Stephens and husband Glen of Lubbock, TX; Matt Heinemann of Ft. Worth, TX; Rachel Smith and Alex Reed of Wichita, KS; Ty Smith and wife Lexy of Austin, TX; great-grandchild, Ivan Reed; brother, Bill Mahone and wife Charlene of Odessa, TX; sister, Judy Austin of Lubbock, TX; and numerous nieces and nephews.
