Peggy Lois Crafton was welcomed to her heavenly home July 25, 2021. She was 78 years old. She was born in Littlefield, Texas on June 11, 1943 to Joe and Opal Gregson, and raised in Spade as the fourth of six girls. She graduated from Spade High School in 1961 and attended Jesse Lee's Beauty School, where she became a licensed beautician. She married Vernon Dale Crafton on November 12, 1963 and they lived in Lubbock for all of their 57-year marriage.
She worked as a beautician until she had her first child, Cathy, in 1969 (now of Post, who married Chris Sawyer in 2003), and another child, Perry, shortly after in 1971 (now of Austin, who married Meagan Bailey in 2019). She joined Dale as the office manager and co-owner of Crafton's Glass in 1978. In 1983 she attended framing school, then opened and oversaw Crafton's Frame-It, an extension of Crafton's Glass, until 1992 when she retired from the company. She enjoyed traveling with her sisters on their many "sister trips" as well as spending time on Prairie Pines, the family ranch in Spur. She was a member of Monterey Church of Christ in Lubbock.
She was preceded in death by her parents and husband. She is survived by her two children, five sisters, Verllie Carter of Skiatook, Oklahoma; Lavern Vanderveer of Muskogee, Oklahoma; Carol Vanderveer of Ft. Worth; Judy Holmes of Lubbock; and Debra Bentley of Gainesville, and three grandsons, Avery Crafton; Zachary Sawyer and Peyton Sawyer.
