Peggy Lou Winn Banks January 5, 1937 - July 16, 2022 Lexington, Kentucky - Peggy Lou Winn Banks, 85, of Lexington, passed away Saturday July 16, 2022. Peggy was born in Irvington, KY, the eldest child of the late Wilbur B. Winn and Margaret Brashear Winn. She was a graduate of Irvington High School and Kentucky Baptist Hospital in Louisville where she received her degree in nursing. After moving to eastern Kentucky to pursue her nursing career, Peggy met and married the late Estill D. Banks. They settled in Whitesburg, KY and spent many happy years raising their three children and contributing to the community. In addition to being a compassionate and caring nurse for several health organizations in the area, Peggy was an excellent pianist and vocalist, and shared her love of music with others, especially young people. After retirement, Peggy and Estill enjoyed moving to new locations where they developed close and enduring friendships. The couple lived in Nicholasville, Kentucky; Sebring, Florida; Fort Myers, Florida and Irvington, Kentucky before returning to Lexington, Kentucky for their final years. Upon her return to Lexington, Peggy renewed old friendships and made many new and lasting ones, but the overriding focus of her life centered around her children and grandchildren: Peggy is survived by her three children: Kathy Banks (Paul Schwab-husband) of College Station, TX; Estill Darrell Banks II (Ginger Banks- wife); and Darrin W. Banks (Leigh Banks-wife), both of Lexington, KY; her siblings, Suzanne Roberts, Grayanne Jackson and Benny Winn, 13 grandchildren; Jeff, Zach, Matt, Dylan, Sarah, Ellie, Ty, Nick, Darrell, Anna, Berry, Sam and Britt, and six great-grandchildren, Rhett, Luca, Celia, Bert, Owen and Lily. Peggy's final years were spent at Richmond Place Retirement Community in Lexington. The family would like to thank the wonderful community and staff of Richmond Place for their loving care to their beloved mother and Nana. Visitation will be Wednesday, July 20, 2022 from 5-8 pm followed by a Memorial service on Thursday, July 21, 2022 at 10 am at Milward-Man O' War, 1509 Trent Blvd. A private burial service will follow in Irvington, KY.
