Pauline Raines, 98, of Centralia passed away Friday, September 17, 2021, at Centralia Manor. She was born on November 5, 1922, the daughter of George and Mildred (Henry) Raines in Centralia.
Pauline was preceded in death by her parents George and Mildred (Henry) Raines; and her infant sister Virginia Marjorie Raines.
Pauline was proud of her hometown, Centralia and was happy to come back after retirement. Pauline found education so important, she attended the University of Illinois and then moved to Indiana to get her masters. She worked to mold young minds as a teacher in Robinson, Illinois for 22 years. Pauline was a faithful member of the First United Methodist Church and served several years on the Administrative Board and on the Council of Ministries. She was a member of Meadow Woods Country Club and the Centralia Philharmonic Orchestra. She loved to travel with her friend Claire Hoener to places as far off as Europe, and Hawaii. Pauline was a selfless giver and volunteered her time as a Red Cross Blood Bank Volunteer, St. Mary's Hospital Auxiliary as a Pink Lady, and was a charter member of the P.E.O. Sisterhood.
A celebration of life service will be held at 11:00 A.M. Tuesday, September 21, 2021, at the First United Methodist Church in Centralia with Rev. Mark Myers and Rev Victor Long officiating. Interment will follow at Hillcrest Memorial Park in rural Sandoval. Friends are invited to a visitation starting at 10:00A.M. till the time of service at the First United Methodist Church in Centralia on Tuesday, September 21, 2021. Memorials may be made in Pauline's honor to Centralia Regional Library or the First United Methodist Church.
