Pauline Lucille Potteiger, 90, of Mechanicsburg, ended her fight with Congestive Heart Failure on February 19, 2024, at her residence, The Bridges of Bent Creek. As God lifted her spirit from this earthly plane to be with Him, Pauline joined her precious husband Bob and all the loved ones waiting to welcome her in heaven.
She was born March 28, 1933, in Chambersburg, PA as the third daughter of the late Robert S. and Mae E. (Pyke) Knepper. She was also the widow of Robert Lee Potteiger, who died May 10, 2023. Pauline and Bob were childhood sweethearts, having met in the one room schoolhouse in New Kingstown around 1943. They celebrated their 71st anniversary on April 6, 2023.
Pauline was a faithful member of Trinity Global Methodist Church in New Kingstown and formerly attended and served in the Carlisle Brethren in Christ Church for many years prior to 1980. Pauline's spiritual gift was service which she did selflessly and tirelessly, both in serving her church and her family. She also served alongside her husband in their family business, Potteiger Meats, for 50 years.
Family and friends closest to Pauline were constantly mesmerized by her gifted hands at the piano, always "playing by ear". In her early years of piano lessons, her mother often found Pauline adding notes that weren't on the printed page since she was much more comfortable playing what she heard in her mind than what was written in the book. Her husband wanted to preserve this gift and had a professional CD recorded of Pauline playing old time hymns that they both loved. This CD would make its way to Cumberland Valley Christian Radio, WPFG, 91.3 and is played as part of their rotation today.
Pauline is survived by her son Ron Potteiger (Sue) of Sun City Center, FL, two daughters Bonnie Barnes (Woodrow) of York Springs, and Diann Armstrong (Tim) of Mechanicsburg, seven grandchildren, 15 great grandchildren. Pauline is also survived by a brother, Nelson (Patsy) Knepper, Camp Hill and six sisters: Janet (Arthur) Niesley, Columbia; Sylvia (Richard) Nichols, Poway, CA; Fern (Ray) Musser, Upland, CA; Lois (Dale) Wolgemuth, Mechanicsburg; Beth Knepper, Phoenixville and Anita (Chuck) Stern, Pleasant Hill, OH.
The visitation will be held on Wednesday, March 27, 2024 from 10:00 AM until 11:00 AM at Trinity Global Methodist Church, 4 West Main Street, New Kingstown. The Celebration of Life Service will be held at 11:00 AM in the church with her grandson, Pastor Brooks Potteiger, officiating. The burial will be in Rolling Green Cemetery, Camp Hill.
