Pauline M. Salgado' Gomez May 30, 2022 La Mesa, CA Pauline M. "Salgado" Gomez passed away peacefully early evening of Monday, May 30, 2022, at 4 p.m. at the home of her youngest son in La Mesa, California, where she was loved and cared for in her final years. She was predeceased by her brothers William L. and Robert S. Salgado; her husband, Pete L Gomez, Sr., her daughters Sonya A., Regina A., Elisa M.; and her granddaughter Briana P. Gomez. She left behind her sons Pete Jr., Paul, Perry, and Patrick and their spouses and children, all in San Diego, California, and her sisters Helen Galvan and Jeanne Pickering and their children.She was born in San Diego, California to Manuela Nellie Serrano and Luis Salgado. Both parents passed away in her late teens. She married Pete Sr. in 1953 and became a Navy wife and mother. Military tours took her to numerous places on the East and West Coasts of the U.S. as well as Japan and Hawaii. Caring for her children, single-handedly at times when Pete was assigned to ship-tours around the world, she had several careers, as an airplane riveter, a cook and a Certified Nurse Assistant. Pauline always kept in contact with her sisters and brother Bob (before his passing); she was a devoted Catholic and lived as such. She died cherished and respected as a devoted wife, mother, and sister. To her children, a Saint and unshakable conviction to God. Family and friends loved and honored her without reservation. She was humble as she was kind, to all. Each of us knew we were loved, from the days of our birth to her final breath. June 9, 2022: Viewing, 4-7 pm. Rosary at 6pm, Erickson-Anderson Mortuary.June 10, 2022: Mass at 2 pm, St. Martin of Tours Catholic Church, followed by burial at 3:30 pm, Holy Cross Cemetery & Mausoleum.
