Pauline Marie (Brun) Highet, 87, of Mount Vernon, WA, passed away peacefully at Providence Hospital on June 8th, 2021. Pauline was the proud Mother of five kids with a strong faith in God. She was born March 24, 1934 in Chignik Alaska to Carl and Martha Brun. By age 4, she and two other siblings were sent to Kodiak Baptist Orphanage on Kodiak Island after her Father passed away. Five other siblings were old enough to avoid the orphanage. Pauline, and another non-related orphan (Rosa), were adopted by the Lindemuth family and moved from Kodiak Island to Ayersville, OH in 1944. Pauline always longed to visit Chignik again but sadly never made that journey. Although her family was separated at an early age, she was able to reconnect with her siblings as an adult.
Pauline eventually moved from Ayersville, OH to Everett, WA along with the Lindemuth family and graduated from Everett High in 1952. In 1954 Pauline married Gerald Highet who had just completed his service in the Korean War. The two found their way to Mount Vernon, WA and started raising a family of five kids. While Gerald (Jerry) was busy building his trucking company (Brown Line, Inc) in Skagit Valley, Pauline was busy being a loving Mom, helping with the family business, and working odd jobs in Mount Vernon. Short in stature but strong in spirit. Pauline's love for her family was fierce. Her faith in God was the center of her life, and it helped her through so many of life's hardships. Her family always knew she loved them because she told them all the time. We experienced a long goodbye with Pauline as she battled with dementia. We'll miss her sense of humor, warm hugs, embarrassing kid stories, baked cookies, Gonzaga Basketball bragging, thoughtful letters, health remedies, and mostly her immense capacity to show and express her Love. Pauline was preceded in death by her daughter Jill, son James, and her entire Chignik family. She is survived by her sons, Jerry, John, and Joel. Daughter-in-laws Lyn and Shellie along with grandchildren Ian, Andrew, Kelsey, Jay, Cameron, and Rayna.
Burial Services were held on June 17, 2021 at Hawthorne Memorial Park. Memorial Services will be held at Emmanuel Baptist Church in Mount Vernon, WA on Saturday, July 17, 2021 at 1 PM.
