Mrs. Paulette Irene Schmidt Duvall
Mrs. Paulette Irene Schmidt DuVall, age 74, of Hanover, Indiana entered this life on March 29, 1947 in Bellevue, Iowa. She was the loving daughter of the late John and Alvera Deppe Schmidt. She was raised in Maquoketa, Iowa and graduated high school there in 1965. She attended the University of Iowa after high school. On October 6, 1967, Paulette was united in marriage to Gary DuVall at the United States Air Force Academy Chapel in Colorado Springs, Colorado. This happy union of 54 years was blessed with a daughter, Michelle, and a son, Chad. The family first settled in the Patriot, Indiana community, then resided in Madison, and finally in Hanover, where they have resided since 1974. Paulette received her bachelor's in education from Indiana University Southeast. She then began a teaching career in the first grade at Southwestern Elementary School and later teaching fourth grade, retiring after 32 years of service. Paulette was a faithful member of the Hanover United Methodist Church, where she taught adult Sunday school class for many years. She also held membership in the Indiana State Retired Teacher's Association. Paulette loved crafts, making dolls, making handmade cards and sewing. She was a loving wife, devoted mom, mamaw and sister. Paulette died on Sunday, March 20, 2022, at 8:53 p.m. at the Thornton Terrace Health Campus in Hanover, Indiana.
A LOVING FAMILY
Paulette will be missed by her loving husband of 54 years, Gary DuVall of Hanover, Indiana; her loving daughter, Michelle Thurnall and her husband, Doug of Hanover, Indiana; her loving son, Chad DuVall of Madison, Indiana; her loving grandchildren, Alice Courtney, Amanda Thurnall, Andrew Thurnall, Emma DuVall, and Cortney DuVall; her adoring great grandchildren, Boston Courtney, Caleb Courtney, Mila Courtney, Oliver Courtney, Landon Thurnall, and Colton Thurnall; her brothers, Robert Schmidt and his wife, Pam of Dubuque, Iowa, Dale Schmidt and his wife, Judy of Maquoketa, Iowa, Douglas Schmidt and his wife, Sandy of Mason, Illinois, Virgil Schmidt and his wife, Jodi of Maquoketa, Iowa; her sister, Annette Lechtenberg and her husband, Edward of Maquoketa, Iowa; several nieces, nephews and other relatives. She was preceded in death by her father, John Schmidt, her mother, Alvera Deppe Schmidt, and her brother, Dean Schmidt.
FUNERAL CEREMONY
Funeral services will be conducted Thursday, March 24, 2022, at 1:00 p.m., by Pastor Luke Richards and Pastor Brynen Chitwood at the Hanover United Methodist Church, 220 East LaGrange Road in Hanover, Indiana. Interment will be at a later date in the Indiana Veterans Memorial Cemetery,1415 North Gate Road in Madison, Indiana.
VISITATION
Friends may visit Thursday from 11:00 a.m. - 1:00 p.m. at the Hanover United Methodist Church, 220 East LaGrange Road in Hanover, Indiana.
