Paula Gay Flaming passed away on Wednesday, October 26, 2022, in Fort Worth, Texas. She was born on September 22, 1954, in Raton, New Mexico to Paul Williams Flaming and Fannie Maude (Cooper).
A visitation will be held from 9:30am to 10 am Thursday, November 3, 2022, at Coker Funeral Home followed by a memorial service beginning at 10 am.
Paula grew up in New Mexico, growing up in the Assembly of God church. She came to Texas in 2001 where she met and married Kevin Florance of Jacksboro, Texas. She helped him run Florance Paint and Body for many years. She also worked for the City of Jacksboro first as a police dispatcher and then she worked in the water department for 15 years. She retired in October 2022 and ended her career as the Chief Water Plant Operator. She was apart of a team that won numerous awards including: 2008, 2011, 2012 Best Tasting Water from the Texas Water Utilities Association Region 3; 2011 Best Tasting Water from the American Water Works Association; 2011 Best Tasting Water in Texas from the Texas Water Utilities Association; 2017 Big Country Drinking Water Contest Best Overall and Best Surface Water (population less than, 100,000); and in 2021 Paula was voted Best of Jack County Volunteer. She loved delivering meals on wheels for the Concerned Citizens. Paula was a beloved mother to poodles, Buddy and Sugar, and loved to sew and making quilts for numerous people. She loved the country lifestyle and was always quick with a laugh, smile and kind word. She will truly be missed by her family and friends.
Those left behind to cherish her memory are her husband, Kevin Florance of Jacksboro; sisters, Sandra Flaming of Bonham, Catherine Gerald of Colorado City, CO, and Beverly Ary of Las Cruces, NM; brother and sisters-in-law, Keith Florance and Vicki of Jacksboro and Dellene Florance; numerous nieces and nephews that she dearly loved as well as her City of Jacksboro employee family.
