Mr. Paul C. Turpen died peacefully on May 8th, 2022, in Rio Rancho, New Mexico at the age of 95 years old. Paul is survived by his daughter, April Turpen of Florida; and daughter, Marina Turpen Sagen and son in law Frank T. Sagen of New Jersey; granddaughter, Jennifer L. Taylor of Utah; and by great grandsons, Robert and Andy Cedeño of Florida. Paul was born on April 26th, 1927, in Electra, Texas to Jewell Inez Riddell Turpen and Carroll Clyde Turpen. Paul attended and graduated from Abernathy High School in Abernathy, Texas in 1945. Paul entered the United States Navy on March 28th, 1945, and served in World War II on the USS Grand Canyon. Paul was honorably discharged with ending rank of Seaman First Class on July 30th, 1946. Paul graduated Texas Tech University with a Bachelor's degree and obtained a Master's degree from Eastern New Mexico University. Paul was a professor of English and Humanities at Eastern New Mexico University in Portales, New Mexico until his retirement in 1989. Burial will take place at Santa Fe National Cemetery at a later date.
