Paul Jackson (Jack) Murdock
Jack Murdock, born August 27, 1928, in Rome Georgia, returned to the Lord June 26, 2022, at the age of 93. The son of Elbert Cecil Murdock and Irene Elizabeth Tucker Murdock, one of seven children. He graduated from Rome High School in 1946 and enlisted in the USAF from January 1951 - September 1954, serving at MacDill Air Force Base, Florida, and England. In the Fall of 1954, he was accepted to the University of Georgia, graduating with a degree in Business in 1956. He was a proud member and President of Kappa Sigma fraternity his senior year. Jack married Nancy Elizabeth Ripley 19 January 1959 in Cuyahoga County, Ohio and they had four children. He spent 30 years working for Abbott Laboratories as a successful and highly recognized sales executive until his retirement in 1992. He was a loyal member of Riverside Methodist Church in Macon, GA for over 45 years.
Jack was cherished by all who all who knew him, family, and friends alike. He truly lived his motto of "In order to have friends you have to be a friend." His love for his wife, children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren was boundless. He never missed an opportunity to sing hymns beside the piano with his brothers and sisters during annual family reunions, with a host of nieces, nephews, and friends. He was passionate about golf and Georgia football, and he relished Saturdays in the fall in Athens GA watching the Bulldogs and celebrating fellowship with his Kappa Sigma brothers, friends and families.
Jack was preceded in his death by his parents, brothers Don and Bob, sisters Martha and Eloise and son-in-law Sandy Roberts. He is survived by his wife Nancy, his four children Dianne, Paul (Michele), Aimee (Rockwell) and Dave (Maria Eugenia); grandchildren Katie Roberson (Chase), Kevin Roberts (Emily), Sarah Smith, Ripley Smith, Christopher Murdock, Caroline Murdock, Victoria Murdock, Rachel Murdock, and Paul Jackson Murdock III; great-grandchildren Kyleigh Roberson, Cohan Roberson, Channing Roberson, and William Roberts; and brothers E.C. (Bettye) and Bill (Mary).
