Mr. Paul F. Higbie, age 94, of Marysville, Indiana formerly of Madison, Indiana entered this life on January 5, 1926 in Bryantsburg, Indiana. He was the loving son of the late Howard W. and May Ringwald Higbie. He was a graduate of North Madison High School. He was inducted into the United States Army on September 13, 1944 during World War II and served with the 100th Division, Company A, 397 th Infantry in France, Germany and Belgium. Paul was honorably discharged on May 22, 1946 at Camp Atterbury and he earned a Battle Star, Combat Infantry Badge, EAME Theater Ribbon with a Bronze Battle Star, Good Conduct Medal, World War II Victory Medal, and World War II Army of Occupation Medal Germany. He married Ruth H. Bryant on August 21, 1954 at the St. Patrick Catholic Church in Madison, Indiana. This happy union of fifty-six years was blessed with two sons, Michael Vaughn and Richard Joseph. He was a farmer and also worked at the Jefferson Proving Ground in transportation for twenty-five years before retiring in 1978. In 1979, he moved from their farm in Jefferson County to a farm in Clark County. He was a member and raised in the St. Patrick Catholic Church in Madison. After moving to Clark County he became a member of the St. Michael Catholic Church in Charlestown, Indiana and really loved his fellow parishioners and was happy that Ruth converted there. He was a life member of the Madison V.F.W. Post No.1969 in Madison, a life member of Knights of Columbus No. 9269 in Charlestown, and past member of AFGE Local 3924. He enjoyed farming and living in the country and especially enjoyed spending time with his family. Paul died on Tuesday, October 6, 2020, at 9:25 p.m. at the Campbell Care Home in New Washington, Indiana. Survivors: son, Richard J. Higbie of Marysville, Indiana; daughter-in-law, Jo Ann Higbie; grandchildren, Justin ( Melani), Susan (Billy), Jacob & Lacy; godchild, Campbell Higbie; great-grandchildren, Keegan Vaughn Webb, Reagan Webb, and Owen Higbie; Preceded: Parents, Howard Walter &, May Ringwald Higbie, his infant brother, his son, Michael Vaughn Higbie, died May 15, 2000, wife of 56 years, Ruth H. Bryant Higbie, died September 8, 2010. Mass will be conducted Monday, October 12, 2020, at 2:00 p.m., St. Patrick Catholic Chapel, 305 West State Street Madison, Indiana. Interment St. Patrick Cemetery, Madison with military honors, (Masks and social distancing is required) Visitation Sunday 4-7 pm, Monday noon-1:30 p.m. at the Funeral Centre, The Rosary, Sunday, 7 pm.
