Paul F. Hamilton, 83, passed away at 2:40 p.m. Saturday, May 8, 2021 at Keepsake Village of Columbus. Paul was born June 15, 1937 to Daniel Hamilton and Lola Rudicel Hamilton Pope in Alert, IN. He married Betty York May 7, 1974; their 47th wedding anniversary was Friday.
Paul proudly served in the United States Army and the Army National Guard for 14 years. He was a Vietnam veteran; he also had a tour in Germany. He drove long haul truck routes for Dolly Madison Bakery. Mr. Hamilton retired after 29 years of service and accumulated over 2 million miles of safe driving.
Paul is survived by his wife of 47 years, Betty; half-sister, Darlene Pope McDaniel of Dupont, IN, half-brothers, David (Maureen) Pope, Dale Pope, Don (Carol) Pope, Susie Hamilton Vanarsdale, Clara Hamilton (James) Denny, all of Columbus, IN. Also surviving are Robert (Marilyn) Hamilton of Westport, IN, John (Roxann) Hamilton Scipio, IN. and brother-in-law, David (Karen) York of Columbus, IN.
He was preceded in death by his parents; step father, Irvin Pope, and half-brother, Robert Pope.
The funeral service will be conducted at 1:00 p.m. Friday at Barkes, Weaver, and Glick Funeral Home on Washington Street with Pastor Larry Duncan officiating. Family and friends may call from 11:00 a.m. until the time of service Friday at the funeral home. We do ask visitors to follow social distancing guidelines inside the funeral home and masks are required. Burial will be at Garland Brook Cemetery. Military honors will be presented by Bartholomew County Veterans Honor Guard.
