Paul Charles Feldman, age 70, beloved husband of 26 years to Carolyne Beverley Rickett Feldman, died on Friday, February 17, 2023, at Regency Hospital of Florence.
Paul Feldman was a bad boy in high school, but although he was a rogue, he was a lawful rogue. He always had a strong sense of what was right or just, he was a tough kid, surviving the anti semitism of the time made him grow a thick skin.
After high school, he was a Moncks Corner police officer for six months before deciding the army was more to his taste. He loved the Army and his country, his family and his Harley in that order. He was a tough combat soldier, started his career with the 101st Airborne and qualified as an Expert Marksman, Sniper, Jungle Expert, Hand to Hand Combat Instructor and others, with the intent of qualifying for Special Forces, but Desert Storm happened, and he wanted to go to war.
He loved reenacting World War II battles and went to Coniaught with his son Aaron one year. He participated in the annual reenactment at Legare Farms in Charleston. He was an avid collector of Militaria from prior to the Crimean War to World War II and had quite the collection. He had a very quirky sense of humor and loved the Marx Brothers and Laurel and Hardy films. He got out of the army in '96 and spent a further eight years in the Reserves while doing a civilian contract as an M1A2 tank instructor in Saudi Arabia. After finishing that contract, he came back to Charleston and enrolled in nursing school. He spent 10 years as a CCRN until retiring in 2014. He unfortunately became disabled from service injuries and in January of this year became hospitalized with Covid. He battled hard with the disease but could not overcome it. He passed away on Friday 17th of February at Regency Hospital in Florence.
