Paul Wilson Dacus, 95, beloved husband, father, and grandfather, peacefully passed away Wednesday, July 13, 2022 at The Willows of Easley.
Born in Williamston, SC, he was a son of the late Henry and Lois Smith Dacus.
In May of 1945, only a few months shy of 18, Paul enlisted in the US Navy to serve his country at the conclusion of the second World War. He was honorably discharged in July of 1946.
He later trained to become a barber and found his talent. Paul was meticulous and precise when grooming his clients and always aimed for perfection. He continued cutting hair and was a successfully self-employed barber into his 80s. Paul was a valued part of the Greenville business community and was a faithful member of Berea First Baptist Church.
Paul and his late wife, Mildred Crumley Dacus were blessed with two children and shared 63 joyful years of marriage. In addition to Paul’s parents and wife, Mildred, he was predeceased by his grandson, Andrew Dacus.
Those left to treasure his memory include his son, Tom Dacus and wife, Cindy; daughter, Paula Meglic and husband Mark; three grandchildren, Ryan Dacus and wife, Amy, Maddi Meglic, and Nathan Meglic; two great-grandchildren, Emery and Hadley Dacus; a sister, Betty Skelton; and his wife, Marie Farr Dacus.
Visitation will be held Monday, July 18th, from 1:00 p.m. until 1:45 p.m. at Thomas McAfee Funeral Homes, Downtown, followed by a funeral service and military honors at 2:00 p.m. in the funeral home chapel. Burial in Woodlawn Memorial Park will be privately held.
