Paul Wendell Banks

Mr. Paul Wendell Banks, 86, of Albany, peacefully passed away on Monday, September 11, 2023, at Lee County Health and Rehabilitation. Services honoring his life will be conducted at 11:00 a.m., Friday, September 15, 2023, at Pine Bluff Baptist Church. Pastor Keith Smith will officiate, and the family will visit with friends following the service. Born on September 25, 1936, in Thomasville, Mr. Banks was the son of the late Leon and Myrtle Layton Banks. He followed in his fathers' footsteps who had worked as a barber until he was 89. He enjoyed many talks and laughs throughout his years as a barber. Mr. Banks loved The Lord, his family, and going to church. He also enjoyed singing, watching the Georgia Bull Dogs, and playing pool. He will be remembered as a loving husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. Those left to cherish his memory include his beloved wife of 66 years, Sylvia Bizzell Banks; children, Tammie and Steven Webb of Albany, and Bruce and LeAnn Banks of Leesville, S.C.; 4 grandchildren, Ryan Whitehead of Jacksonville, FL, Brentson Whitehead of Albany, Bruce Banks, Jr. of Savannah, and Steven Banks of Augusta; and 5 great-grandchildren that he dearly loved.
