Words cannot express the sadness that the family of Paul Baker, 96, feels at his passing on January 22, 2021. He was born in Chicago, Illinois to Ivan and Josephine Baker on December 27, 1924. The family celebrates a life well lived for this World War II (WW2) veteran who loved his wife, Bonita Sanderson of 51 years who has preceded him in death. Paul served in the US Army during WW2 with the 404 Field Artillery, 86th Infantry Division (Black Hawk Division) at Camp Howse, Texas where he met the love of his life. He joined the 983rd Field Artillery Battalion, 10th Corp, in New Guinea and moved on to the Philippines after US Forces retook the island. After the war he came to Seagraves, Tx to marry his beloved. After the ceremony, the couple moved to Champaign, Illinois, while Paul attended the University of Illinois gaining a Bachelor of Arts in Business. After graduation, the couple returned to Seagraves, Tx where he was an accountant with Argo Oil Company. He then went to work for Texaco Oil Company for over 40 years. During this time, he lived in Texas, New Mexico, Ecuador, Ireland, Portugal, Egypt, and Guatemala. He also traveled to 12 more countries to view archeological and historical sites. Mr. Baker was active in each community he lived in. Enjoying a variety of organizations including Boy Scouts, Community Theatre, and becoming a Master Mason. He taught Sunday School in a number of churches and was a member of the Seagraves City Council and served as Mayor Pro Tem. His favorite activity was reading to and telling stories to elementary students in Seagraves. A highlight of the year was a tour of Paul's home and the Egyptian tent he had set up in his backyard. Paul is survived by a grateful family including for children; Charles Baler of Sierra Vista, AZ, Paula Hollis of League City, Tx, Alice Dollahan of Seagraves Tx, and Tony Baker of Liberty Hill, Tx; 7 grandchildren, and 11 great grandchildren
