Paul Raymond Arsenault

Paul R. Arsenault, 93, of Niles, MI, passed away on Friday, March 22, 2024, at his home. A memorial celebration of life will be held at a later date. A private burial will be held at Holy Cross Cemetery in Calumet City, IL. Arrangements have been entrusted to Swem Chapel & Cremation Services. Those wishing to leave an online condolence may do so at www.swemchapel.com. Paul was born on December 30, 1930, in Escanaba, MI, to Peter, Sr. & Harriett Arsenault. Paul graduated from Munising High School in 1948 and following his graduation he proudly enlisted in the United States Navy from 1948 until 1952. Upon his return home he continued his education by attending Michigan Technology University where he earned a bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering. On December 17, 1954, Paul married the love of his life, Rita Michaud, in Houghton, MI. Paul was employed with Inland Steel for 29 years until his retirement in 1985. His expansive knowledge of mechanics made him a "jack-of-all-trades" kind of man, always tinkering with things. He also enjoyed being outside, hunting, fishing and riding snowmobiles. Paul is survived by his loving wife of 69 years, Rita; children, Paula Newton, Susan (Tom) Boshela, Lisa (Andre) Fournier, and Jon Arsenault; 12 grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents and son, Mark Arsenault.
