Mrs. Patty Anne Simms Deaton, 84, of Woodstock, GA peacefully passed away with her daughter by her side in her home on February 24, 2021. Patty was born on December 28, 1936 in Cynthiana, KY to the late Ottis and Maryanna Simms.
Patty graduated from Harrison County High School as a member of the class of 1955. There she was a 4-H Champion. She earned a Bachelor's of Science Degree from the University of Kentucky, where she was a member of the Alpha Delta Pi sorority. Patty was a talented artist and enjoyed gardening and farming. She was vibrant and full of life. She also loved cooking and trying new recipes. Patty enjoyed a job as a food editor for the Atlanta Journal Constitution.
She was a very devout Christian, a proud Methodist and her love for God showed through her works. She was also a proud Republican. Patty was an extremely loving and devoted mother and wife. There are no words to describe what she meant to her family. Patty will be forever deeply loved and missed.
Left to cherish her memory is daughter, Lara Todd Deaton and her husband, George Edwin Mittelholzer and many cherished friends. She was preceded in death by her husband, Donald Clarke Deaton.
There will be a celebration of life service on Sunday, March 7, 2021 at 5:00pm in the chapel of Woodstock Funeral Home, 8855 Main St, Woodstock, GA 30188. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. Following the service, there will be a reception and time of fellowship. In honor of Patty's vibrant personality, Lara asks instead of wearing black, you wear your favorite color.
