She was the valedictorian of her Roby High School 1947 graduating class where she participated in basketball, volleyball, band, cheerleading and FHA. Her motto as a senior graduate was "Today we launch, where shall we anchor". Her future proved true to this endeavor. She entered North Texas State University where she met her loving husband of 59 years, James Aaron Sargent, and they had two children, Larry Lee and Linda Mae. Pat had various secretarial and bookkeeping positions as they raised their family in Oak Cliff, a suburb of Dallas. In 1964, they moved to Clovis, New Mexico where Pat received her BBE and MBE graduating with special honors at Eastern New Mexico University. It was in Clovis where she began her teaching profession. She settled in at Highland Park High School until 1992 when she retired. While there, she was the Department Chairperson from 1973 to 1981 and was District X High School Business Teacher of the Year. Pat was also a part-time instructor of Business Education at Richland Community College in Dallas, Texas. She co-authored "Security First Bank", a workbook simulation that teaches banking and personal finance skills. It was published and revised four times and is still being used in school classrooms. Pat loved her family more than anything. After retirement, she joined her husband Jim, in various investments; they enjoyed building together.
