Patsy Kidd:
It is with unbearable sorrow and deep abiding love that we share the passing of our beloved mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister and friend.
Patsy Ruth O'Rourke Kidd, passed peacefully August 10, 2022. Enveloped in the love of her family, Patsy took the hand of Christ, and Heaven rejoiced.
Patsy Ruth O'Rourke, was born August 3, 1927 in the rural, coal mining village of Kenvir, Kentucky. It was in this small, rugged community, that Patsy's parents, the late Edward O'Rourke and Hazel Marie Hudson O'Rourke, instilled Patsy's deeply held family values and unbreakable commitment to God.
Patsy's educational pursuits saw her graduate from Evarts High School and go on to attend Business School in Louisville, KY. We are so proud of our Matriarch's accomplishments in a WWII and post WWII era, when women's education was not a given.
Patsy married her love, the late William Howard Kidd, on September 3, 1949 and spent 40 years building their lives together. A wife and mother, Patsy was protective, affectionate and devoted to her family. As the homemaker, she was the force and foundation that provided safe harbor to those she loved. Her love and devotion, extends to her church family at New Lexington Baptist Church, where she is a member and previously served as a Sunday School Secretary.
To her family, Patsy will forever be our beloved Mom and Mamaw. Remaining to cherish her memory are her Children: Winnie Beach; Gloria (Mike) Kimble; Bud Kidd. Grandchildren: Paul Kimble; Bill (Shauna) Kimble; Mendy (Tom) Hupp; Rob (Cassie) Beach; Julie (Matt) Scott; Jason Kidd; Kelli (Tyler) Poling; Brandi (Nick) Ridenour. Great Grandchildren: Nataya (Eric) Hooper; Cody & Vanessa Hupp; Greyson & Case Poling; Addison, Landon & Logan Scott; Connar & Caleb Back; Cole & Cai Kimble; Noah, Drew, Jase, Levi and Baby Ava (due Feb)Ridenour. Brother Bobby O'Rourke. And arriving in time to attend Mamaw's recent 95th birthday celebration, Great Great Grandchild: Leo Hooper.
Loved ones that preceded Patsy in her Journey to be with Christ are her parents, Husband Howard Kidd, Sister Rena Freeman, Brothers Harold, Paul, Tommy, and Don O'Rourke. Infant twin granddaughters Jessica & Jill Beach.
Patsy loved life, and sought to absorb all the wonder and beauty it had to offer. She loved unapologetically and cherished every moment she spent with family. No matter her age and always the family gametriarch, Mamaw was always ready to challenge the grandkids and great grandkids to a competitive board game. Chinese checkers,
Yahtzee, Trouble, and cards will never be quite the same again. But the years of fond memories will be cherished forever.
Mamaw's not so secret stash of coma inducing sugary treats like Little Debbie cakes, Vanilla Bean ice cream, Reese's Cups, butterscotch candy and Juicy Fruit gum, would make Willy Wonka blush. But, it was all for her pride and joy. Her grandbabies, her family, her loves.
Mamaw spent leisure hours immersed in a variety of entertainment medias. She gained much pleasure from her puzzles, crosswords, books, country music, old hymns and watching Fox News. She was and remains, an independent, intelligent force with a mind of her own.
We will remember Mom, Mamaw, sitting on her porch, watching the birds, coffee in hand. Our hearts are comforted knowing that Mamaw has returned to the Kentucky of her childhood. Taking in the mountain view, and running in a field of daisies in her Kentucky Heaven.
The Irish blessing for all she loved, and all who loved her...
May the road rise to meet you,
May the wind be always at your back,
May the sun shine warm upon your face,
And the rain fall soft upon your fields,
And until we meet again,
May God hold you in the hollow of his hand.
