It is with great sadness that the family of Patsy Irene Johnson announce her passing on October 14, 2022 in Lenoir City, Tennessee. She was the eldest daughter of Gladys Taylor Sharpe and Louis Andrew Sharpe, born on September 16, 1936 in Wytheville, Virginia.
She is survived by her husband of 40 years, Alvin M. Johnson of Loudon, TN as well as daughters Lisa S. Farley, (Bill), of Huddleston, VA, Jennifer A. Jarvis, (Bill), of Southport, NC and stepson, Jeff Johnson, (Masako), of McLean, VA. Sister Peggy Ward of Durham, NC, grandchildren Logan Jarvis, Charlottesville, VA, Yusuke Johnson, McLean, VA, Erik Johnson, Philadelphia, PA, and Hannah Westover, (Baxter), Charlotte, NC survive her as well.
Patsy received dual bachelor degrees from Johnson Bible College and Phillips University. She later earned a master's degree in Education from Lynchburg College. Her 25 year teaching career concentrated on developing young students at an elementary and middle school level in Texas, North Carolina and Virginia.
Patsy relocated from Forest, Virginia, post retirement, to Tellico Village in Loudon, Tennessee where she established lifelong friends and relished in the sense of the community. She was an active volunteer and founding member of The Good Neighbors Shoppe.
She was a lifelong music lover, singing in church choirs and with the Knoxville Choral Society.
She enjoyed traveling the world with her husband and family experiencing the history, landmarks and cultures of many countries. Master of sarcasm, excellent cook, avid reader, bridge player, puzzle and trivia whiz. She will be missed dearly by her family and the friends.
A Celebration of Life will be held Wednesday, October 19,2022 at 11:00 a.m., at the Community Church at Tellico Village, 130 Chota Center, Loudon, Tennessee.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, her favorite charity.
