Patsy Ann Worsham Carter of Montgomery, Texas passed away peacefully at her April Sound home on July 22, 2021. Visitation will be held Wednesday, July 28, at Metcalf Funeral Directors (Dignity), located at 1801 E. White Oak Terrace in Conroe from 5:00 pm till 7:00 pm. A memorial service, led by Rev. Dowen Johnson, will be held at April Sound Church on Saturday, July 31 at 11 a.m. Patsy will be buried at Centuries Memorial Cemetery in Shreveport, LA on Tuesday, August 3, at 2 p.m.
Patsy was born on March 18, 1935 to William Hassell and Sybil Miller Worsham of Dubberly, LA and attended school in Tullos and Olla. After graduating from LaSalle High School in Olla, she enrolled in Northwestern State College in Natchitoches and graduated with a B.S. degree in Nursing in 1958. Following graduation, Patsy worked as a Registered Nurse in Louisiana and Texas. In 1957 Patsy married Marvin Carter and relocated to Texas, where their son Ray and daughter Kelli were born.
In 1962, Patsy and her family moved to South America and lived 28 years as ex-patriates in Argentina, Colombia and Peru. During her many years overseas Patsy worked as a volunteer school nurse and a travel agent. She also enjoyed golfing, fishing, cooking, entertaining, and spending time with friends and family. Patsy and Marvin retired and moved to their April Sound home in 1994.
Patsy was preceded in death by her parents and her daughter Kelli. She is survived by her husband of 64 years, her son Ray (Karen), grandson Dillon, granddaughter Alessandra, her sister Anita Brown, sister-in-law Dr. Sue Schopf (Morris), nephew Kit Kelly (Martina), nieces Ann Tidwell (Gary), Sherry Hauser (Cecil) and Mary Atkins, as well as many other relatives and friends.
