Patrick (Pat) John Burns, 78, of Hollywood Township passed away peacefully at home on January 1, 2024, surrounded by family and friends.
Pat was born November 1, 1945 in Watertown, MN. He married his high school sweetheart, Margie, at St. Mary's in Waverly, MN on July 27, 1968. They were married for over 55 years and had eight children and many grandchildren.
Pat graduated from St. Mary's High School in Waverly and graduated from Assumption College in North Dakota. Pat served in the U.S. Navy aboard the USS Simon Lake in Scotland. He then worked on the family farm and was later self-employed.
He loved his family and enjoyed cheering them on in sports and school activities. He enjoyed driving draft horses on Sunday afternoons and in many parades. Through the years Pat and Margie hosted memorable trail rides and pro-life barn dances.
Pat was a great storyteller and had the Irish gift of gab. His stories always made people laugh. Faith, family and friends were his top priorities.
He was a proud member of the Watertown American Legion and the Waverly Knights of Columbus.
Pat is survived by his wife Margie; children Angela (Steve), Patrick (Julie), Suzie (Chris), Lisa (Dan), Katie (Kunjorn), Bob (Ashley), Ruth (Peter), Matt (Laura) and many grandchildren.
Visitation will take place Sunday, January 7, 2024 from 4 to 8 p.m., with a 3:30 rosary service and 8 PM prayer service. Mass of Christian Burial will be held on January 8 at 11 a.m. Visitation one hour prior. Both services will be held at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Watertown.
