Patricia Ann West (ne? Vanderpool), 85, a life-long resident of Mount Vernon in Skagit Valley passed away at her home in Mount Vernon on Sunday, November 2nd, 2025.
She was born in Mount Vernon on March 6th, 1940 to Helene and Cecil Vanderpool. Patricia graduated from Mount Vernon High School in 1958. On November 12, 1959, she married Lanny Earle West who was a navy man from Kansas City, MO. The couple lived in Kansas City for about five years where both of their daughters were born and then they returned to Mount Vernon. After the divorce, Patricia had many loves, but never remarried.
Patricia was always helping people. She had a heart for children, especially those who showed signs of wayward behavior. She earned a Bachelor's degree in Teaching and Psychology and went on to earn a Master's in Counseling at Western Washington University in Bellingham. Patricia counselled children and also served as a judge for the Juvenile Accountability Board.
Rather than complain about the rising crime in the Mount Vernon area, Pat decided to become a Citizen on Police Patrol (COPP) and served this community for years.
Patricia loved to dance and sing and especially loved going out dancing with friends. She also loved nature, camping, museums, Pina-coladas and getting caught in the rain ;)
Patricia is survived by her daughters: Riki Jo Peterson and Carla R? West-Sowdon; grandchildren: Jazmine West, Korisa West, Alisa Peterson, Michael Tran and Nicholas Tran; great grandchildren: Zeus, Cash, Nova Star, Zander, Monica, James, Elijah, and Cydnee; and one great great granddaughter: Olivia. Patricia is preceded in death by her parents and her brother, Larry Vanderpool.
