Patricia (Tricia) McCormick McNeel passed away peacefully on July 18,2021 . Patricia was the daughter of Major & Mrs. Edward George McCormick of Columbus, Georgia. Her father was in the army, so they lived in N.Y. , Washington D.C. & Puerto Rico before returning to Columbus, Ga. She had 3 sisters, whom were dear to her heart, Elizabeth, Helena, & Leonora.
Patricia attended Stratford Preparatory High School in Danville Virginia, and two years of College at Stratford College. She transferred to the University of Georgia where she received a Bachelor of Science in Physical Education. Patricia was in the second pledge class of Kappa Kappa Gamma Sorority at UGA. She met the "love of her life" at UGA, Harry(Hap) McNeel, of a well known family in Marietta. They were married April 26th, 1952 in Columbus, Ga. They were fortunate to have four children, Sterling, Steve, Peggy & Morgan.
Patricia was a member of the Jr. League of Marietta, The Cherry Laurel Garden Club, The Society of Colonial Dames, The Marietta Country Club for 70 years, The First Presbyterian Church of Marietta, & Marietta Bridge Club.
Patricia was known for being an avid sports enthusiast who enjoyed participating in ALTA tennis for 40 years, MCC Ladies golf association, & Atlanta Women's Golf Association. She was a passionate Ga. Bulldogs fan as well as a zealous Atlanta Braves fan , whom never missed a game on TV, even if it ended at 2am.!
The family left to cherish Patricia's memory are her children, Sterling McNeel(Marguerite), Steve McNeel(Lisa), Peggy Wallace(Chuck), Morgan McNeel(Peggy).
She was blessed to have seven grandchildren, Steven McNeel(Mollie), Duncan McNeel, (Susanna), Julia Herrin(Paxton) Carter McKinnon(Christina), Mallie McNeel, Meg McNeel, & Lily McNeel.
Patricia was also the loving Great Grandmother to nine great grandchildren. Harry McNeel, Lynde McNeel, Steven McNeel, Patricia Allen McNeel, Fullerton McNeel, Duncan McNeel, Mary Paxton Herrin, Royce Herrin, Vivian Herrin.
The entire family will miss the classy lady that helped to touch our lives with much joy and happiness , but her spirit will remain in our hearts forever.
The memorial service will be held at the First Presbyterian Church of Marietta Fri. July 30th at 11:30 am.
