Patricia(Pat) Baca Taylor of El Campo passed away on February 3, 2025 at the age of 77. Pat was born on September 30, 1947 in La Grange, TX to the late Lloyd and Julia Orsak Baca. She attended St. Philip Catholic school in grades one through eight and graduated from El Campo High School in 1965. Upon graduation, Pat attended beauty school and became a licensed beautician. A short time later, Pat met Homer Taylor, the love of her life, at the Hillje Dance Hall. Not long after, Homer proposed and the two married on December 16, 1967. Homer had just returned from serving the United States Army in the Viet Nam War and was ready to begin a career as an attorney. The newlyweds embarked on establishing the Homer Taylor Law Office. Pat embraced a partnership in the law office serving as a legal secretary. The position suited her well. She arrived at the law firm early each morning ready to greet each client with graciousness and a welcoming smile. She retired from that position upon Homer's death in 2008.
Pat was always a great hostess and friend. She was an excellent cook and gardener, often canning the home grown crop. She took pleasure in entertaining friends at her home and checking on those in need of a helping hand. Pat often ran errands and provided food for friends who were no longer able to drive. She also made cakes for various occasions such as funerals, showers and birthdays, a legacy passed down from her mother. Her free time was spent nurturing the many animals she adopted. At the time of her passing, she was particularly devoted to her rescue dog, Girly. Friends often commented that Girly had won the lottery the day that Pat adopted her. Pat was a lifetime member of the Catholic Daughters of America and the Wharton County 100 Club.
Pat is survived by her niece Stacy Baca Holzapfel and husband David of West Columbia, nephew David Baca of Houston, nephew Jackson Motal and wife Laura of El Campo, great niece Katelynn Stone and husband Colton of Bryan, great nieces Maggie and Marion Motal and several Godchildren.
Pat was preceded in death by husband Homer Taylor, brother Donnie Baca, and her parents.
