Patricia L. "Patty" Stone, age 70, passed away December 10, 2020. Patty was born April 22, 1950 in Edinburg, Texas to Charles and Lois (Spreen) Dennis. She graduated from Edinburg High School and went on to receive a Bachelor of Science in Education from the University of Texas and a Masters of Science in Health Professions from Southwest Texas State University (Texas State University).
Patty retired from the Texas Department of Health in 2000 with over 31 years of dedicated service. She later worked part-time for Curves at Wells Branch from 2005 to 2018. Patty was very active in many organizations throughout the years, including Texas Society of Public Health Education, Healthy Mothers Healthy Babies Coalition, Texas Breastfeeding Coalition, Public Health Museum of Texas, Reading Education Connection and Been There Done That (retirees of the Health Department).
Patty was an active member of First United Methodist Church of Round Rock where she was part of the Lydia Circle and numerous Bible study groups. She enjoyed a variety of hobbies and interests, including nurturing plants, nutritional education for women, music children's literacy, travel, collecting stained glass, hummingbirds and Hallmark ornaments.
Patty was preceded in death by her parents, Charles A. and Lois Spreen Dennis and her husband of 27 years, Joe L. Stone. Those left to cherish her memory include her son, Dennis de la Pena and his wife Sally Hernandez de la Pena of Austin; brother, Charles Michael (Mike) Dennis and his wife Katrina (Tina) Dennis of McAllen; sister, Susan G. Dennis of Round Rock; step-daughter, Cheryl Stone Cielencki and her husband Stan Cielencki of Marion; step-son, Joel Stone and his wife Mary Garvey Stone of Buda; grandchildren, David Joseph (DJ) and Noelle de la Pena, Walker and Abbie Stone, Colton Cielencki (USAF), and Chad Cielencki (USMC) and his wife Britanny Thibodaux Cielencki; great grandchildren, Madyxx, Devyn and Quinn Cielencki; numerous cousins, nieces, nephews and a host of friends.
Memorial Services will be held Monday, December 28th at 1pm at First United Methodist Church of Round Rock, 1004 N Mays St, Round Rock TX 78664. The services can be viewed via livestream using the link in the services section below.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Patty's memory to the Community Assistance Fund at First United Methodist Church of Round Rock, PO Box 1448, Round Rock, TX 78680 (www.fumc-rr.org/give) or to the charity of your choice that feeds the hungry, cares for health or literacy of children or researches a cure for cancer.
