Patricia D. Sessions died Sunday, Aug. 28th. Raised in Biloxi, MS, she attended Sacred Heart Academy from pre-K through her senior year of high school. She received a bachelor's degree from The University of Southern Mississippi. She died on a beautiful, Texas Sunday morning. Prayers for the repose of soul were offered at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Biloxi on the very morning she died (Mother would have loved that)! She was a most loved 1st grade teacher at Weatherford Elementary in Plano for 25 years. After a long hiatus from the pursuit of her dream to teach, she returned to school, obtained her teaching certificate, and began her career at the age of 40, later earning a master's degree, and becoming a reading specialist. She worried people would think she was crazy starting a completely new career at her age-but she thrived and knew joy unlike ever before, making life-long friends who supported her until the end. Mother was a strong, proud, quiet woman of faith who didn't take "no" for an answer. If one door closed, you didn't give up until you found one that would open! She's predeceased by her beloved husband of 60 years, Carlton Sessions, her youngest son, Steven, and her daughter-in-law, Teena. She's survived by her children, Jeff (Kim), Robin, Scott (Ashley), and grandchildren, Taylor (Katie), Kyle (Ryan), Kaylee (Corye), and Jennifer; and her sister-in-law, Fran Sessions, as well as numerous nieces and nephews, all of whom loved their Aunt Pat! The family wishes to thank all mother's friends with whom she taught, but especially Pat Newbern who made it a point to visit weekly for dominos, ice cream parfaits, and good conversation! We would also like to thank Jae Beck-Taylor, whose devoted care for Mother over the last 3 years sustained Mama, but most importantly gave peace to the family in the knowledge that she was being well-cared for. Memorial service: Friday, Sept. 9th, 2:00 PM, Holy Nativity Episcopal Church, 2200 18th St., Plano, TX 75074. For the safety and comfort of all in attendance, masks will be required. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Texas Scottish Rite Hospital or the North Texas Food Bank. For the comfort and safety of all in attendance, masks are required. Thank you.
