On December 23, 2020 Patricia "Pat" Joan Kennedy (86) passed quietly into the arms of her Savior. She was born to Harold Glenn and Elsa Vavricek Kennedy, on May 21, 1934 in Chicago, Illinois. After high school she attended The University of Iowa where she graduated with honors with a degree in Psychology. She lived in Chicago, Maryland and Florida prior to moving to Monroe in 2014. Pat lived for 45 years in Ponte Vedra Beach/Jacksonville, Florida, which was her "heaven on earth".
Pat loved anything about the beach, world travel, dining out, The Ponte Vedra Inn and Club, water aerobics, reading, card games and animals. Her years in Florida allowed for many treasured memories, great friends and a very active life. Another great opportunity Pat had was attending the Presidential Inaugural Ball of President Richard Nixon and Vice President Spiro Agnew in January 1969.
While in Monroe, Pat was able to spend more time with her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. She adored her family but she received exceptional joy from the visits of her two great grandchildren, Nora and Landon.
In January 2020 at the age of 85, Pat accepted Jesus as her Lord and Savior. After a difficult number of years with health concerns plus the limitations of a 2020 national pandemic, there is great comfort in knowing that "Grandma Pat", as she was affectionately known, is now with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. Her passing will now be a celebration of eternal life with Christ, giving great comfort to her family.
Pat is survived by two sons, Mark Cimijotti and wife, Joy, of Monroe, NC and Bruce Cimijotti and wife Anita, of Appleton, WI. She is survived by five grandchildren, Trent Cimijotti, Tom Cimijotti, Carrie Geimer (husband Ian), Tanner Whitten, and Peyton Whitten. Additionally, she is survived by her great grandchildren, Nora Geimer and Landon Geimer. She is also survived by her best friend since Kindergarten, Joy Hackel, Riverside, Illinois.
Pat was preceded in death by her parents, Glen and Elsa Kennedy, an infant daughter, Laura Denise Cimijotti, several aunts, uncles and cousins.
Memorial contributions can be made to Kingstree First Baptist Church - 400 N. Academy Street, Kingstree, SC 29556. McEwen Funeral Home of Monroe is honored to serve the family of Mrs. Kennedy.
