Patricia O'Bryhim Miller, 79, of Snow Hill, NC passed away December 14th, surrounded by her family.
Born in Fredericksburg, Virginia, October 11, 1942, Patty was the first daughter of Raymond Joseph O'Bryhim and Martha Farmer O'Bryhim. She enjoyed a wonderful childhood with many close friends, family, and numerous cousins, in Fredericksburg. Patty graduated from James Monroe High School and later Mary Washington College, where she majored in music. Following college, while working as a barefoot waitress in Nags Head, she met and later married George Conrad "Skippy" McGee, a native of Snow Hill, NC. Among the groomsmen was his good friend Oscar Patrick "Pete" Miller, Jr. After Skippy's untimely death due to illness, Pete, Snow Hill's only and most eligible bachelor, began escorting Patty to the summer theatre at East Carolina University. Their friendship evolved into a courtship followed shortly thereafter by a long happy marriage. Pete was so excited to be marrying Patty that he walked the streets of Snow Hill inviting folks to attend the wedding and he would often boast that he loved Patty so much that he was in both of her weddings. Patty taught music in Greene County Schools for many years, touching the lives of thousands of children. She was also an active communicant at Snow Hill Presbyterian Church, where she served as the pianist for many years and participated in numerous church groups and outings. Snow Hill Presbyterian was very much at the core of Patty and Pete's life and Patty cherished the many friendships formed there. Patty's devotion to family was always her top priority. She is survived by her husband of 52 years, Pete Miller, two children Barbara Miller Bolt and husband Chris of Wilson, NC and Jamie Miller Brown and husband Mike of Wilmington, NC, a sister Martha O'Bryhim Parsons and husband Pat of Bowie, MD, four grandchildren, John Oscar "Oc" Bolt, Patrick Vaden "Pete" Bolt, Michael Corbett Brown IV, and Miller Haskell Brown, brothers-in-law Paul Frizzelle Miller and wife Caroline, and Jesse Warner Miller. She also leaves behind special nieces and nephews whom she loved dearly. A graveside service will be held at 11:00 am on Friday, December 17th at Snow Hill Cemetery in Snow Hill, NC. Prior to the service, the family will receive friends from 9-10:30 at Snow Hill Presbyterian Church, 105 SE 4th Street, Snow Hill, NC. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Snow Hill Presbyterian Church, c/o Bobby Glossip, 201 Hines Street, Snow Hill, NC 28580.
