Patricia Ann Curtis, 84, of New London, New Hampshire died unexpectedly on April 6th, 2022, with family at her side. Daughter of Allen McBride and Josephine Comproni McBride, Patricia was born in Plymouth, New Hampshire on September 16, 1937.
Patricia spent her youth between Campton and Plymouth, New Hampshire, where she began a lifelong friendship with her husband, Stuart William Curtis. Patricia and Stuart were married in June of 1962 and moved to New London, NH where they raised their three sons on the shores of Pleasant Lake.
Patricia's true passion was education and after graduating from Plymouth High School, she attended Plymouth State College followed by her graduate work at the University of New Hampshire where she collected two master's degrees. She was a professor at Colby Sawyer College for 40 years and traveled abroad to study in France and teach at the University of Nairobi in Kenya. Her career as an educator was one of her great accomplishments and helping women meet their fullest potential was a true passion for Patricia. During her tenure at Colby Sawyer, she assisted in the development and implementation of the four-year business curriculum and later started Colby Sawyer's Career Development Center where she helped so many find their way into life after college. Outside of her career, Patricia loved to ski, play golf and she most enjoyed riding in her boat around Pleasant Lake.
Patricia's family was truly the pride of her life. She loved being with her husband and her boys and was an ever-present source of wisdom and support to her sons as they navigated both sports and life. In later years, Stuart and Patricia were a constant presence at their grandchildren's ski races and sporting events, always ready to dole out warm hugs on cold days at the finish line. She will be deeply missed.
Patricia was preceded in death by her husband Stuart. She is survived by her sons Geoffrey (Suzi), William, (Ingrid) and Michael (Jody) and her five loving grandchildren Reilly, Siena, Lucy, Lee, and Bo. Patricia leaves behind the legacy of a happy and loving family. We will always be grateful for her love, kindness, humor, and wisdom.
A celebration of life for Pat & Stu will be planned for early this summer in New London, NH. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Colby Sawyer College; https://colby-sawyer.edu/giving/make-a-gift
