Patricia Lyng, 87, formerly of Clifton Park, New York passed away on February 3, 2021 in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania.
Patricia was born in Vestal, New York on August 17, 1933 to James and Avis (Pratt) Place. She was Valedictorian of Harpur College (Binghamton University) where she earned Bachelor's degrees in History and Geography. She pursued her Master's degree in Education and taught until her children were born. She and her former husband, Jim, raised their family in Clifton Park. As her children grew, she returned to work as a Security Administrator for KeyBank. She retired and went to live at Coburg Village. She remained very active as a member of the Executive Board, director of the Coburg Country Store and coordinator of religious services. Patricia recently relocated to Harrisburg, Pennsylvania to be closer to family. She was known for being an avid reader and loved to challenge herself with crossword puzzles. She also enjoyed needlework and made embroidered keepsakes for her future great grandchildren.
Patricia is predeceased by her parents and her two brothers Robert and Charles Place. She is survived by her daughters Laura (Peter) Good and Mary Ellen (Richard) Braisted, her son Andrew (Lisa) Lyng, her sister Carol (Ronald) Ferris, and her grandchildren Joseph and Sarah Good, Daniel Lyng, David, Michael, and Tyler Braisted as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
The family would like to express special thanks to her care aides, Petra, Ladie and Renee for their support and care throughout this time. Patricia will be dearly missed by her family and friends, especially longtime neighborhood friend Sondra.
There will be a funeral mass beginning at 11:00AM on February 13, 2021 at St. Margaret Mary Catholic Church, 2800 Paxton Church Rd., Harrisburg. In keeping with current health guidelines, attendees are encouraged to exercise proper precautions including the wearing of face coverings and appropriate social distancing.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Habitat for Humanity or the American Heart Association in memory of Patricia.
