Pat Dillaway passed away peacefully with her children at her side on November 6, 2021 after a brief illness in El Paso, Texas.
She was born October 23, 1948 in Cortez, CO, the daughter of Richard and Elizabeth Becher. She graduated from Fort Lewis College in Durango, CO in 1971 with a bachelor's degree in accounting.
She spent her life caring for her family, friends, and neighbors, raising her three children and volunteering at their schools and activities. She cared for her disabled son and her parents in their later years; she was always taking care of others before herself. She worked at Kriegel & Company and made many friends there, as well as at the Dona Ana County Treasurer's Office, where she worked for over 15 years before retiring in 2018.
Pat loved working outside in her yard, reading in front of her fireplace, traveling to see friends and family, and holidays, large and small. She sent a box of decorations and activities to her grandchildren for each holiday. She loved cooking for others and cooking food she had grown in her garden. She was small but mighty. She was loyal and fiercely protective and never met a stranger.
Those left to mourn include her son Adam Dillaway and Grace Goeglein of Las Cruces and daughter and son-in-law Sonia and Wayne Reich of New Columbia, PA; two grandsons Caleb and Noah Reich; siblings Katherine Schild and husband William of Morrison, CO, Dixie Bradley of Eugene, OR, Rick Becher and wife Mindy of Dolores, CO, Carol Potorff and husband Dennis of Yellow Jacket, CO and Barbara Roberts and husband Kim of Grand Junction, CO as well as nieces and nephews plus too many friends to count. She was unforgettable.
She was preceded in death by her parents and son Daniel P Dillaway.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to MD Anderson Cancer Center, Houston, TX. Many days were spent there supporting a close friend during her cancer treatment.
