Hodgson, Patricia 10/16/1935 - 7/11/2022 Saginaw Patricia Lou Hodgson October 16,1935–July 11,2022 Pat, as she preferred to be called, or Patty which her husband lovingly called her, left this world peacefully Monday morning July 11, 2022. She was at home with family by her side. She was a beloved wife, mother, sister, aunt, cousin, grandmother, friend, and neighbor. She was born in Saginaw on Oct 16, 1935, to the late Richard and Sadie Young (Smith). She married her husband John Wahl Hodgson of 70 years by eloping to Angola, Indiana on April 5, 1952. She and John have 5 children. John Hodgson Jr. (Rose) from Saginaw, MI, Terry (Dale deceased) Stupnicki from Sand Lake, MI, Sue (Tim Lang) from Defiance, OH, Sandra Pothoof from Bay City, MI, Michael Hodgson (Deanna) from Gladwin, MI. She has 14 grandchildren, Jason Stupnicki, Jennifer Atkinson, Patricia (Jeff) Mehring, Dale (Penny) Stupnicki, Roger Willbanks, Alesha (Ben) Switzer, Matthew (Elizabeth) Hodgson, Sarah (Eric) VanEenenaam, Janel (Andrew) Taylor, Joseph Kohnke, Noel (Heather) Kohnke, Josh (Laura) Traxler, Shaun Traxler, Justen (Brianna) Traxler. She has 24 great-grandchildren and one more on the way. She has 4 great-great- grandchildren. She is survived by her husband John, sister/ best friend & partner in crime Judy Hoffman (Birch Run, MI). She is preceded in death by 2 other sisters (also besties), Nancy Prottenger (Saginaw, MI), and sister Peggy Ramsden (Belding, MI). Two brothers-in-law, Duane Hoffman (Birch Run, MI) and George Prottenger (Saginaw, MI) also preceded her in death. Pat was sincerely loved by her entire family. She leaves behind several nieces and nephews she loved hearing from. Pat was an active member of the Catholic Church serving in many roles at St. Francis de Sales (formerly St. Christopher's) for over 40 years. She was Leader of the Women's Alter Society, Ladies Auxiliary, prayer chain, and was a Lay Minister taking communion to community members not able to attend in person. Through her church, she managed the purchasing for the Saginaw soup kitchen picking up and dropping off groceries. She loved traveling with her husband, sister Judy, and brother in-law Duane Hoffman, to Florida for many winters. She loved taking pictures and sharing the many memories of their adventures together. She was very artistic and enjoyed ceramics and knitting/crocheting as a hobby. She has left us all many precious heirlooms that will be forever cherished. Pat loved gardening and could always be found working in her flower gardens, digging in the dirt. She enjoyed reading and belonged to the Bridgeport Library Book Club. They were invited to the Oprah Winfrey show in 2020, to highlight one of the longest active book clubs in America. Pat enjoyed hosting holiday meals and family barbeques. She loved baking and made sure she made everyone's favorite cookies. She was, and will always be, an inspiration to anyone who knew her and will be greatly missed by all whose lives she touched. Services for Patricia will be held Friday, July 22, 2022, at St. Francis de Sales Catholic Church at 11 a.m. with visitation starting at 10 a.m. There will be a luncheon following at the church that everyone is welcome to attend and celebrate this Ladies amazing life.
