Patricia Marie Halliburton (Butler), age 68, passed away peacefully surrounded by family on May 20, 2022. Pattie was born on March 22, 1954, in Schenectady, NY to the late Richard and Emma Jane Butler. She attended Schalmont high school where she enjoyed academics, being captain of the majorettes, singing in the choir, and made many lifelong friends.
Pattie always lived life to its fullest and put her whole heart into everything and everyone around her. She is considered by her family and friends to be truly selfless and would drop everything to help others; she also thrived on the exchange of interesting conversation and provocative ideas. After retirement she kept herself so busy with her interests that she often commented that she 'had no idea how she ever had time to work'. Those interests include extensive gardening with a beautiful assortment of exotic flowers, feeding and watching several different species of wild birds, crocheting, reading, exploring new recipes, doing arts and crafts, and most important of all spending time with her family. Pattie loved going on adventures with her grandchildren and teaching them through her kind and compassionate spirit.
She held a Bachelor of Science degree in Medical Technology from Albany College of Pharmacy and enjoyed an impressive 30-year career with the Veterans Health Administration. At the VHA, Pattie held various responsibilities such as supervision of Chemistry and Phlebotomy departments, Laboratory Information Manager, Lead Field Analysist, and Lab ADP Applications Coordinator. Before her retirement she proudly led a team in several efforts associated with automated identification and data capture to promote improved patient safety in healthcare delivery within the Office of Informatics and Analytics.
She is survived by her husband Buddy and their children Cynthia (Casey), Brian (Brittany), Robert (Amber), Kelly (Shaun), and James. Also surviving are her four sisters Debbie (Marty) Scardino, Laurie (Leroy) Bluitt, Becky (Mitch) DiMoro, Marcia (Jim) Steinbach, her best friends Kathy and Jim Miller, as well as numerous nieces and nephews, aunts and uncles and friends. Especially cherished are her grandchildren Peyton, Tyler, Skyler, Brooklyn, Sophia, Charli, Liam, Jackson, Emma, and Theron.
