We lost our beloved Aunt Patty, who passed away peacefully on April 30, 2022. PatriciaL. Gignac, 93, recently of Lapeer was born in Detroit, MI on August 28, 1928 to parents Alphonse and Louise Gignac.
After graduating from Marygrove College, Patricia started her career as a TWA Stewardess. She loved to travel and experience new things. While working for the airline, Patty returned to school at Stanford University, earning her Master's Degree.
She began her teaching career in San Francisco, then spent several years teaching English in Germany. In the early 1970's, she returned to Michigan to care for her motherand to teach history and geography in the Birmingham Public Schools until retirement. She was beloved by many and will be truly missed.Patricia is survived by her brother Donald Gignac of Chevy Chase, MD; niece, Colleen (Daniel Kosuth) Cavanagh of Metamora; nephew, Kevin (Barbara) Cavanagh of Port St.Lucie, Florida; great-nephews, Charlie (Maggie McDonough) Kosuth and Michael Kosuth; and cousins in Trenton, MI and Ontario, Canada. She was preceded in death by her sister Betty Cavanagh (Harold Cavanagh) and her aforementioned parents
.A private graveside service will be held at a later date. The family would like to especially thank the staff at Devonshire Retirement Village who cared for and loved Patty unconditionally providing engagement every day.
