Patricia Casey Moynihan, 90, of Anderson, South Carolina, passed away on Monday, September 5, 2022.
She was born Patricia Ann Casey in Batavia, New York on October 1, 1931, to the late Dorothy and Lawrence T. Casey.
She is survived by her children, Sheila Moynihan van den Bandt (Bert) of Woudrichem, The Netherlands, Michael Robert Moynihan (Robin) of Harrisonburg, Virginia, Patricia Colleen Moynihan Deegan (Claude) of Anderson, South Carolina, Matthew Richard Moynihan (Brian) of St. Louis, Missouri, Kevin Edward Moynihan (Karen), of Los Altos, California, Brian Thomas Moynihan (Susan) of Wellesley, Massachusetts, Kathryn Moynihan Edwards of Anderson, South Carolina, and Patrick John Moynihan (Christina) of Orlando, Florida; twenty one grandchildren; and sixteen great-grandchildren.
Pat, as she was known to almost all except her father and a few others who called her Mickey, graduated from Batavia High School in 1948. She then joined the staff of the Sacred Heart Academy for a year, after which she enrolled in the Cornell University School of Labor Relations.
On August 24,1950 Patricia married the late Robert Edward Moynihan, also of Batavia, and accompanied him to Lafayette, Indiana, where he was a graduate student in the chemistry department.
After Robert completed his degree in 1954, they moved to Wilmington, Delaware, and then in 1959 to Marietta, Ohio.
While in Marietta, she worked part-time conducting surveys for Opinion Research Corporation, and from 1981 to 1993 she was an award-wining agent and manager for Prudential Insurance.
Pat was a lover and enthusiastic supporter of the arts, especially poetry and theater. Shortly after her move to Marietta, she helped found the Mid-Ohio Valley Players, a community theater group now starting its 64th season, and on occasion took the stage in supporting roles. Pat was an avid bridge player and enjoyed competing in duplicate bridge tournaments. She also enjoyed tennis. A prolific knitter, multiple projects usually accompanied her during her extensive travels to her children's far-flung camps, campuses, recitals, athletic competitions, and homes.
In 1996 Patricia and Robert moved to Keowee Key, South Carolina, the site of many lively gatherings of friends and family. In 2016, she moved to Summit Place in Anderson, where she also resided at times with her daughter Kathryn.
