Patricia Ann (Ziegler) Busch, 55, of Lillington, North Carolina, a former Columbus resident, passed from this life Friday, January 3, 2020 at her home after a year long battle with breast cancer with her husband, daughter, parents and a close friend by her side.
Patricia (Tricia) was born November 24, 1964, in Shelbyville, Indiana, the daughter of Gary and Annette Ziegler of Columbus.
She graduated from Columbus East High School in 1983 and was in the East Band, she then attended Indiana University and was in the Marching Hundred Band.
Tricia started her career in retail sales in Detroit, Michigan, then in Parkersburg, West Virginia and then in Columbus, Ohio before marrying Christopher Busch June 29, 1991 at Asbury United Methodist Church in Columbus. Chris was a submariner with the U.S. Navy stationed in Pearl Harbor. Tricia relocated there shortly after the wedding and worked at the Disney store in Honolulu. They were transferred to Bremerton, Washington where Tricia was employed by the Bremerton Observer Newspaper. After twenty years of service with the Navy, they ended up in Lillington, North Carolina near Fort Bragg where Chris contracted with the Army and went to Kabul, Afghanistan. Tricia ended her working career at Marshalls' in Sanford, North Carolina.
Tricia loved everything Disney, her home was a Disney museum. Chris proposed to her at Cinderella's Castle in Disneyland in California. Anything Disney she had and usually had a yearly trip planned to one of the parks. She enjoyed hockey and went to games with her family and friends when possible. Tricia loved people and people loved her, she was kind hearted, loved to laugh and enjoyed being with family and friends. Her smile was contagious to everyone she met.
Survivors include her husband, Christopher; daughter, Courtney, who was born in Honolulu in 1994; parents, Gary and Annette Ziegler of Columbus; brothers, Stephen Ziegler of Westport and Mark (Michelle) Ziegler of Columbus; uncles, Ronald Ziegler of Hope, Indiana and Max (Jan) Courtney of Shelbyville, Indiana; and several nieces and nephews.
The family asks that memorial contributions be made to the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation, cards will be available at the church.
Cremation took place in Lillington, North Carolina. A celebration of Tricia's life will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, January 11, 2020 at Asbury United Methodist Church, 1751 27th Street, Columbus, Indiana 47201; the Rev. David Blystone will officiate.
Tricia's request was to have a Disney theme celebration, please wear Disney attire if possible if you plan to attend.
