Patricia Bryfonski-Piela, 79, of Exeter, NH passed away peacefully on September 19, 2022, in Boston, MA surrounded by her family.
Patricia "Pat" was born on February 14, 1943, in Hudson, NY to John and Edith Bryfonski of Stuyvesant Falls, NY where she spent her childhood. Pat graduated from Ichabod Crane Central School and went on to become a registered nurse (RN) after graduation from the Albany Medical School of Nursing, Albany, NY.
While working as an RN/ICU nurse at Albany Medical Center, Pat met John "Jack" Piela of Springfield, MA who was attending the Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (RPI), Troy, NY. They were married on April 24, 1965, in Stuyvesant Falls, NY.
Pat's professional career in nursing spanned her initial work as an RN at the Albany Medical Center and later on becoming engaged in public health nursing for the Town of East Hartford, CT. She went on to achieve a bachelor's degree in nursing from the University of Hartford, Hartford, CT and a master's degree in health care administration from the Hartford Graduate Center. Pat went on to become and serve as the President and Chief Executive Officer of the Visiting Nurse and Health Services of Connecticut, Inc. in Vernon, CT. for more than 20 years before retirement.
Pat is survived by her beloved and caring husband "Jack", children, Andrew and wife Rebecca of Nashua, NH and Christopher and his wife Kim of Rye, NH as well as grandchildren Sarah, Estella, Aidan and brother John Bryfonski and his wife Bonnie Weiler of Bedford, NH.
She is predeceased by her parents John and Edith Bryfonski of Stuyvesant, Falls, NY and sister Sandra Besig of Missouri City, Texas.
SERVICES: A funeral mass will be held on Wednesday, October 5th at 11am at St. Theresa's Church, 820 Central Road, Rye Beach, NH followed by internment at Central Cemetery, 20 Central Rd, Rye, NH 03870. Family and friends are invited to attend. In lieu of flowers, donations in Pat's memory may be made to the Sean M. Healey and AMG Center for ALS at https://www.massgeneral.org/neurology/als/support.
