Patricia Rae Briggs, of St. Michael and formerly of Duluth joined her beloved husband, Al, in Heaven on April 7, 2022. Pat, as she was affectionately known to everyone, passed away at North Memorial Hospital in Maple Grove.
She was born in Eveleth, MN to Curtis and Katherine (Rebrovich) Kennedy, Sr. on February 5, 1927. She spent her girlhood years in Virginia. Pat attended the Virginia schools and graduated from Roosevelt High School in Virginia in 1945. She continued her education at Virginia Junior College and then trained in a Histology Laboratory (a Civil Service position) at the University of Minnesota in Minneapolis. She later trained in Cytology at St. Luke's Hospital in Duluth. Pat continued her thirst for knowledge and in later years took classes for seniors at the University of Minnesota, Duluth. Pat met the love of her life, Al Briggs, on an arranged blind date and they were married on October 7, 1950 when Al got recalled to the Korean conflict, one of the first seventy-five recruits from Minneapolis. The couple resided in a number of cities, as Al's career dictated and made their home on Lake Vermilion, Tower, for many years. Pat often said that of all the places they had called "home", she most of all missed their Lake Vermillion, Tower, home. The couple later moved to Duluth to be nearer their daughter and her family. Pat is survived by a son David L. Briggs, a daughter Victoria L. Newland and her husband, David "Fuchi"; granddaughter Jennifer Newland Bozosi and her husband Sean and great-grandchildren Sloan Bozosi and Dane Bozosi; grandson Jacob (Annie) Newland; great-grandchildren Liu Newland and Signe Newland and their mother Laurie Benson.
In addition to her parents, Pat was preceded in death by her beloved husband Al Briggs, who passed away on July 27, 2000, several months before their golden wedding anniversary; siblings Curtis Kennedy Jr., Nina Walker, Craig Kennedy and Gael Forsman.
