Patricia "Elaine" (Jones) Bellamy, was born on February 1, 1946 in Sandy Springs, Georgia. She passed away as a result of a valiantly fought battle against brain cancer on Sunday afternoon, December 20, 2020 at her home of more than 30 years in Woodstock, Ga with her loving husband of 53 years by her side.
Elaine grew up in Sandy Springs, Georgia and was a graduate of Sandy Springs high school in 1964. She went on to attend Young Harris college where she met the love of her life Danny Gordon Bellamy. She is also an alumni of the University of Georgia where she obtained her teaching degree and Brenau University where she obtained her Educational Specialist Degree. Mrs. Bellamy was a beloved schoolteacher in the Cherokee County school system for more than 30 years. She loved teaching science and truly enjoyed the comradery of her fellow teachers and school staff. She had many lifelong teacher friends whom she remained close with to the end. She was an avid gardener and a lover of nature and had recently found a new passion in quilting before her illness. She was a kind and gentle person always willing to help and extended love to everyone she met. She loved the ocean and enjoyed traveling the world.
Elaine is preceded by her loving parents Mary Ruth Ledford Jones of Hickory, NC, and her father Tom Duncan Jones of Cairo, Ga.
She is survived by her loving husband of 53 years, Danny Bellamy, daughter Shanon Chance of Adairsville, GA; Son Shaun Bellamy of Germany (USAF) and wife Susan; Grandchildren - Jessica Pulliam of Kingston, GA and husband Kyle - Sara Chance, Holly Chance, and Caleb Chance of Adairsville and Alexander Bellamy, Victoria Bellamy, and Evelyn Bellamy of Germany; Great-grandchildren Haley Pulliam, Waylon Pulliam, and Caroline Pulliam of Kingston, Ga; Sisters Kathy Sharp of Ft Myers, FL and Angela Strode and husband Jon of Orlando, FL; Brothers-in-law Freddie Bellamy and wife Marie of Lavonia Ga, Jimmy Bellamy and wife Tammy of Wadley Ga, Tony Bellamy and wife Cindy of Augusta, Ga; and numerous cousins from Cairo, GA; Nashville, TN; and Hickory, NC.
