Patricia Ann "Pat" Pursell, age 94, of Mechanicsburg, PA, quietly passed away on Tuesday, January 22, 2024.
Pat was born on July 4, 1929, to Warner "Dinty" and Dorothy "Dot" (Easterday) Moore in Long Island, NY.
Affectionately known to her family as "Trisha," Pat was a committed daughter, partner, parent, grandparent, great grandparent, and citizen of the community. Pat's first love was making a warm and welcome home for her family; her second love was giving back as a life-long and influential volunteer. After the death of her daughter, Nina, in 1962, Pat volunteered faithfully at the Children's Hospital of Philadelphia, offering strength, courage, and hope to countless children. Pat was the first female chairman of the Tredyffrin Township Republican Committee, served on the finance committee and led the Episcopal Church Women at St. David's Episcopal Church (Radnor, PA), and organized volunteer ushers at St. Stephen's Episcopal Cathedral (Harrisburg, PA). In 1984, Pat led a nationwide bake sale through the Telephone Pioneers of America, raising over $1 million for the centennial conservation-restoration of the Statue of Liberty.
In the late 1940's, Pat wrote a weekly column, A Shopping We Will Go, for the Newton Square, MA, newspaper and later had several short stories published in the Philadelphia Inquirer Sunday edition magazine. In the 1970's, Pat sold real estate for Roche Brothers, becoming the top seller on the Philadelphia Main Line.
Pat is preceded in death by her loving husband of 28 years, Bill Pursell, sweet daughter Nina Patenaude, and dear companion of 10 years, Tom Drinkwater. She is survived by children Shelli (Mark) Perkins, Jay (Ellen) Patenaude, Rick (Valerie) Patenaude, and Carole Coulson; 10 grandchildren; and 6 great grandchildren, as well as Bill's children John (Denise) Pursell, Gail Elliott, 4 grandchildren, and 11 great grandchildren.
