Patrice Meador Hamby

Patrice Meador Hamby, 91, of Ellijay, passed away on Friday, May 10, 2024. The funeral service for Patrice will be held at Collins Funeral Home on Tuesday, May 14, 2024, at 2:00 PM with Rev. Richard Goodwin officiating. The family received friends from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM on Monday, May 13th at Collins Funeral Home in Acworth. Visitation will be held from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM on Tuesday, May 14th. Patrice was born on December 6, 1932, in Atco, GA, and later moved to Acworth in 1943 where she lived until 2016. She was a member of Hillcrest Baptist Church and later attended East Ellijay Baptist Church after moving from Acworth to be closer to family. Throughout her life, she was a caring and compassionate individual, always willing to lend a helping hand. She worked tirelessly as the assistant manager at Rothschild Mill and Boyce Manufacturing and also managed the HR Block tax office in Acworth. After retirement she continued to serve others offering free tax services to her neighbors and those in the community. A lover of children, Patrice served as a foster parent for many years and taught Sunday school at her church. Her selfless nature and unwavering kindness touched the lives of all who knew her. She is survived by her son, Gregory Hamby (Sylvia), of Ellijay; grandson, Dustin Hamby (Brandy), of Ellijay; great grandchildren, Macy Hamby and Landon Hamby; sister, Faye Daniel (Herbie, deceased), of Hartwell; brother, Dillard Meador (Martha), of Acworth; Catherine (Linford, recently deceased), of Acworth; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to flowers, donations may be made to St. Judes Children's Hospital Foundation.
