Pate "Ellen" Futrell

Pate "Ellen" Futrell, 91 of Charleston, South Carolina, passed away on Tuesday, May 31, 2022. Born on March 1, 1931 in Charleston, SC, Pate was the daughter of the late Rebecca Moseley Rowland and George Rowland. Pate was a long-time member of The Church of the Nativity on James Island. She was passionate about gardening, continually working towards having something blooming in all seasons in her yard. Although she loved her many pets, she was especially fond of her cats having as many as five at one time. She was proud of her employment as a sales clerk for many years at Huguley's of Charleston (formerly Legerton's). Most of all, she loved her family. Pate is preceded in death by her husband of 38 years, Andrew C. Futrell, Sr.; her parents, Rebecca and George Rowland; her two brothers, Harmon "Bunky" Rowland and Christopher Rowland; her four sisters, Virginia Lunney, Rebecca Lunney, Dorothy Craven and Jesse Stephens. Pate is survived by her daughter, Rose Haselden (Will); her three sons Andy Futrell, (Cecile), Stewart Futrell and Timothy Futrell (Kim); eight grandchildren and thirteen great grandchildren. The Funeral Mass will be on Thursday, June 16 at 11:30 AM at the Church of the Nativity, 1061 Folly Road, Charleston, SC 29412. Burial will immediately follow mass at Holy Cross Cemetery on Fort Johnson Road, James island, SC. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Church of the Nativity, 1061 Folly Road, Charleston, SC 29412.
