Otho James Reeder , 82 Jul 30, 1936 - May 13, 2019 Otho James "Jack" Reeder, 82, passed away May 13, 2019, at his home. Born July 30, 1936, in Mapleville, MD, he was the son of the late Jacob and Mildred (Bikle) Reeder, and the stepson of the late Ruth Slifer Reeder, whom he cared for for many years. He was preceded in death by his sister, Vivian, and brother-in-law, Ernie Parker. Jack graduated from Boonsboro High School in 1954. He was active in Basketball, Soccer, Dramatics, served on the school paper, and was a member of the Hi-Lighter yearbook staff. He joined the United States Navy, sailing around the world on the USS ARNEB during Deep Freeze II in 1956-1957. During that tour of duty, he visited New Zealand, Antarctica, Australia, and South Africa. Returning to civilian life, he later retired from AT&T where he worked as an electronic technician in a secure facility. Once retired, he volunteered at local nursing homes, driving people to and from appointments. Jack was an avid fisherman and an accomplished bowler, last bowling in the Flying Feathers League. He won many bowling achievement awards and was proud of his 299 game. Dual Lanes gifted him with the "pin that got away." He was a member of the Beaver Creek Christian Church. Jack is survived by his wife, Barbara, whom he married in 1993, stepdaughter, Beverly, and niece Michelle. He will be missed. Interment will be held at the Rose Hill Cemetery, 600 South Potomac Street, Hagerstown, on June 21, 2019, at 1:00 PM.
