Oscar Adelbert Holdridge, 96, of Manchester, Iowa, passed away on Saturday, November 1, 2025, at the Regional Medical Center in Manchester. He was born on October 18, 1929, in Delhi, the son of Donald and Willa (Wilson) Holdridge. Oscar was a 1946 graduate of Dubuque Senior High School. He then joined the United States Navy serving honorably and retiring after 20 years as a Chief Warrant Officer Third Class.
On May 19, 1951, Oscar was united in marriage to Betty Lou Schaffer in Yuma, Arizona. Two daughters, Joy and Leanne, were born to this union. After his retirement, he then taught ROTC classes in Waukesha, Wisconsin. The family moved to Dubuque where Oscar worked for the Dubuque Gas and Steel Company, retiring as vice president. Betty Lou passed away in 1978.
On December 14, 1993, Oscar was married to Candice (Short) Krause in Galena, Illinois. The couple made their home at Lake Delhi until moving to Manchester.
Oscar enjoyed playing golf and was proud of the three holes-in-one that he made. He also enjoyed growing hosta plants. Oscar loved his family and enjoyed spending time with family and friends.
Survivors include his wife of almost 32 years, Candice Holdridge of Manchester; his two children, Joy Lynn Maples of Earlville and Leanne (Jon Silha) Holdridge of Platteville, Wisconsin; two step children, Doug (Barb) Krause of Waverly and Jennifer (Brad) Heath of Des Moines; two grandchildren, Derek Jon and Sara Joy; five great-grandchildren; five step grandchildren; three step great-grandchildren; one step great-great-granddaughter; brother, Richard "Dick" (Joyan) Holdridge of Dubuque; and several nieces and nephews.
Oscar was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Betty Lou; son-in-law, Jon C. Maples; step son, Steve Swanson; and four siblings, Everett (Darlene) Holdridge, Donna (Cliff) Porter, Gale "Pat" (Joan) Holdridge, and Roger Holdridge.
